The memorable, award-winning Israeli documentary, Marry Me However, is part of the new series, A Wider Lens. The film shines a light on several LGBT men and women who, for religious reasons, decided to marry against their own sexual orientation. They married in order to be accepted into their families and religious communities. Some shared their secret with their partners before marriage, some kept it hidden, and some lied even to themselves. The individuals in the documentary experience a journey of self-acceptance and social activism, as they try to affect a change in their religious environments. The film also follows the women who married and divorced gay partners, as well as rabbis and psychologists who seek a solution to the conflict between Torah law and sexual orientation.

There will be a follow-up panel discussion. The conversation will be on January 21, at 12:00 pm PT / 3:00 pm ET / 10:00 pm Israel. The panel will include Rabbi Mordechai Vardi, the film's director, and Avigail Sperber, an Israeli cinematographer, social activist, and the founder of Bat Kol--Religious Lesbian Organization.
