Due to technical difficulties with the planned film Oh, What a Mess!, we will be presenting a different movie on Saturday evening, August 12th--the French comedy The First Time I Was Twenty. Delightful and witty, this film is bolstered by a great and plucky performance by Marilou Berry.
France / Comedy / French with subtitles / 2004 / 98 minutes - Watch trailer here.
Mid-1960s France: 16-year-old Hannah Goldman is a Jewish teenager who is determined to play in her school’s famous, all-male jazz band despite the sexism and hazing of her peers. This is a gem of a movie that features a nostalgic view of the era (complete with references to Brigette Bardot), some great jazz and a moving lesson about the importance of being true to yourself. Note: Male frontal nudity.
Admission is free; a donation of $5.00 is recommended. Register online in advance or at the door. IJWC Year-Round 2022-2023 subscribers will receive a complimentary registration.
