Director Yariv Mozer’s eye-opening and award-winning documentary, The Invisible Men, reveals an untold story of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—gay Palestinians. Louis, Abdu and Fares are part of the Palestinian “underground” hiding in Tel Aviv, having entered Israel illegally to escape persecution and possible death because of their sexual identity. Only in Israel’s gay underground are they at home.
On Thursday, July 20, at 11 AM PST, we invite you to join us for an engaging panel with Rita Petrenko, the founder of Al-Bait Al-Mokhtalef (The Different House), an LGBTQ+ organization in Israel catering to the Arab community, and Ala, a gay Druze activist currently living in Tel Aviv. They will each speak to their experiences of being Arab in and near Israel, and what LGBTQ+ life is like for them and their communities. You are encouraged to watch the film prior to the panel, However, each panelist will speak to themes from the film, so it is not required to have seen the film to attend the panel. To receive the Zoom link for the discussion, register here.
Admission is free. Upon registration, you will first receive an order confirmation. You will receive a reminder a few minutes before the film begins streaming on Eventive. If you don't see these emails, please check your spam/junk folder to retrieve them. We suggest adding noreply@eventive.org and info@eastbayjewishfilm.org sender emails to your contacts as well.
