About the Event
While the Oscar-winning film starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen introduced to many Americans, this motorist guide was used for years by black motorists as they headed out on the road. At a time when segregation still gripped many parts of the country, people of color used the book to identify welcoming, “color-blind” hotels, restaurants, drugstores and even doctors when they left their hometowns.the Green Book
Our guest speaker, , is currently a non-resident fellow at the Hutchins Center at Harvard University with Henry Louis Gates Jr. Her work has been featured in and over 40 other media outlets.
