About the Event
During the immediate post-WWII period, President Truman was confronted with many issues concerning British-controlled Palestine--whether to advocate for increased Jewish immigration, whether to vote for the partition of Palestine, and whether to recognize the newly independent State of Israel. The road to his decision-making was marked by many detours as he faced push back from the British Foreign Minister and even from those in his Administration. Under One Tent program director Riva Gambert will examine Truman's responses and his ultimate policy decisions.
