About the Event

Documentary / Israel, UK / Hebrew, English / 2016 / 86 minutes - Watch Trailer here.

Israeli filmmakers Tomer & Barak Heymann dig deep into the themes of manhood, religion, family and sex in this documentary about Saar Maoz, an HIV-positive gay man who is torn between his “out” life as a member of the London Gay Men’s Chorus and his desire to reconnect with his Jewish Orthodox family in Israel. The film captures the journey of a man striving to maintain his true self as he navigates two very different worlds.

There will be a panel discussion on December 1st at 12 pm California time. Participants tentatively planned for our panel discussion:

  • Saar Maoz--the leading subject of the documentary.
  • Kim L. Hunt--Executive Director of the Pride Action Tank (a project of AIDS Foundation Chicago)
  • Chris Verdugo--San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus Executive Director.
  • Moderator: Cindy Brown- Manager of Lambda Living Program for LGBT Seniors in South Florida and a member of A Wider Bridge’s Board of Directors

Admission is free. Registration details to follow.

A Wider Lens is a project of A Wider Bridge, the Consulate General of Israel and the EBIJFF.
